SpotOn Fence invented the Dog GPS Fence category in 2019 and has experienced commercial success as well as won awards from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), South By Southwest (SXSW), the Stevies, & the NH Tech Alliance.
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team during a period of significant growth.
This role is designed for a dynamic individual who is eager to start by supporting sustaining activities for our 2nd Generation GPS Fence. The role is an individual contributor role. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of key projects aimed at enhancing the mechanical structure and manufacturability of our products. This includes tooling and fixture design, as well as collaborating closely with electrical engineers to optimize form, fit, and function.
Additional responsibilities include participating in design and technical reviews to ensure product excellence.
As the company grows, the role offers exciting opportunities to lead the design and development of new products, managing the process from conception through to high-volume production. This position is ideal for a forward-thinking Mechanical Engineer ready to contribute to the growth and innovation of our product line.
Responsibilities
  • As part of an interdisciplinary design team, take the lead mechanical role on assigned projects.
  • Personally execute mechanical design activities as required (CAD, engineering analysis, documentation).
  • Drive engineering excellence in all aspects of our products.
  • Collaborate across the organization - marketing, customer service, manufacturing - to ensure integration of all stakeholder inputs.
  • Think creatively and analytically to develop comprehensive design solutions.
  • Understand project requirements and anticipate development challenges to deliverable robust solutions on schedule and budget.
  • Adhere to disciplined design process using design controls, FMEA, rapid prototyping and design reviews.
  • Work with management to prepare project plans and coordinate project management activities
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from a 4-year college or university required.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience; Masters degree with less experience will be considered.
  • Highly proficient user of SolidWorks i.e. surfacing experience or another comparable CAD software program required.
  • Proven expertise in designing parts through injection molding and overmolding techniques, with a strong preference for experience in consumer products.
  • Experience with other manufacturing methods, i.e.: machining, welding, forming, forging, casting experience a plus.
  • Industrial design experience or working directly with an industrial design agency a plus.
  • Experience designing and developing high tech consumer products for high volume manufacturing that meet IP67 standards highly desirable.
  • Must have experience producing engineering drawings and fundamental GD&T knowledge.
  • Experience with finite element analysis and tolerance analysis a plus.
This role is on site in our Manchester, NH headquarters with an opportunity to transition to a hybrid role.
At this time, this role is only available to US citizens and permanent green card holders.
